I hate when that happens... I think the best way to deal with people like that is just to  say the least possible to them and take them as they are    Thought provoking post :-)

Many times.  I have learned (for the most part)  to say less until I know it is a good person to say much around.  Not everyone cares or is trustworthy.

I wrote about an aquaintance last week that always wants information but never gives it. He has been what I consider abusive and rude for long enough so I shall end the relationship.MERRY CHRISTMAS

I'll have to think about that.  Just off the cuff, I think I do not like giving explanations for my thoughts and actions.  I know that I don't really like sharing my opinions.  Maybe I just don't want to explain why I have those opinions.

Siblings...the relationships can remain strained all through the years

My sister was born perfect and has remained so all her life...just ask her? As for me..... just ask her she will tell you how I ruined my life.....LOL   all one can do is love them and laugh.

Like you I prefer giving and receiving explanations. I say that in my life the results have been mixed due to various feelings and personalities involved.

Explanations can be tiresome

Yes, I too have certain friends and acquaintances that require you explain almost everything to them, especially when you're defending an opinion. After a while, you simply have to say "It is what it is . . . take it or leave it!" And in some cases, if they leave it, more the better!

The question that comes to mind is

why you feel the need to explain yourself to these uninterested people. Are you accountable to them? I copped the attitude that I don't have to justify anything to anyone who isn't buying my groceries.

Dear me Doc you do seem to knock yourself up over things that do not matter.

I probably would not give you an explanation because I would know darned well that you would be able to tear it to pieces. Perhaps what they tell you is not remotely important to them, whereas as you you would like the structure raised to examine thoroughly. I think most folk go around responding to conditions as they occur and interest is transient. My brother was a research scientist and he talks sometimes about the structure of chemicals, of the Universe, general knowledge etc. Get the picture. You are intelligent.
