- Go to Public School is Unnecessary
Re: Enjoying life
School was only one social environment in my life at that time. I had several other which I enjoyed and they weren't forced upon me. I saw my friends at church, on the baseball diamond and hiking or biking around. I met new friends in other school districts that way. Eventually, other activities and sub-environments were allowed into the schools which I did enjoy: substitute art teachers who were artists, musical groups such as band and chorus, sports teams and lunchtime gatherings in the math office. These were enjoyable but too little, too late. That fact further impressed on me how unimportant the public school was. I wanted a ticket out and up into college so, no, "gifted and talented" just doesn't cut it.

Well, that is one way to look at it.
But, even though I knew how to read before I e'er entered that door, I dearly loved going to school. K-12 was a great time in my life and I love the memories of it.
