Re: you are definitely a true wordsmith
Thanks, but I marvel at how much good writing goes unacknowledged in newspapers
and magazines.. I love to tinker, but I'm amazed by all the talented people who write for a living (deadlines would kill me!) - and write so much better than they have to to get by! But thanks again! - Bob

Re: Bob, this is one of your best!
Thanks! I think English is particularly rich in this regard. I'm on the lookout for more examples. - Bob

Re: excellent my friend.....
Thanks, Kabu! It was fun. I really must get back to rhyming again. This would have been a great poem for it. - Bob

Re:Would you believe, I used to teach Latin. I couldn't get it at all in
high school, but in college it was a different matter. It does give you a perspective on words.

Re: This is wonderful, Bob! Makes me look much more in depth
One day I just started collecting a list of surprising words - and I lost it. These were the ones I remember. - Bob

Re: How else is a guy going to learn how to say peony?
I recall as a a kid trying to sound out the word psychology and ending up with pish-loggy. Ambulance came out ambrulance, and I thoght a hand grenade was a hambranade. My 5-year old son had the best of all one time when I was kidding around with Ginny at table, and he said, Dad, you're not being have (rhymes with brave).-Bob

My mother in law was an artist of word origins, roots and such...I miss being able to call her for her take on things, she would always give it in Latin first.

This is wonderful, Bob! Makes me look much more in depth
at words...that itself
whirls and paints a whorl... A wise and poetic offering.

Quite interesting Bob. I described a plant to a school master once It had a large round seed and I suggested the way it obtained its name, might have been from an old gardener saying look that plant must be a Pee on ee. I did get a cuff round the ear. I prefer simple words which hang together and compliment each other basically because I don't like looking long words up in my comics. I shall read your work again I think you are quite clever and modest with it Oh it it it how many its to redemption.
