Re:
As with anything else, most of the time it simply comes down to using your common sense. I also recall years ago a researcher somewhere claiming that Pringles potato chips caused cancer because of the way they were manufactured, and that the aluminum lining inside the cans would have potential adverse affects on humans. And then another researcher exclaimed that you'd have to eat something like twenty pounds of Pringles potato chips everyday for fifty years before any signs of cancer might be detected. See how ridiculous these people, and their conclusions, can sometimes be? As always, knowledge is power. You know what's good for you, and you know what you should be avoiding. Yes, keep me informed on all of the research, and then let me decide how best to proceed ( I believe I have enough common sense for ten people! )

Superb blog! It sounds like there are many egotistical researchers out there desperate to make a name for themselves. That they're competing with each other for recognition, going so far as to discredit the others research.

I thought that was a very well-informed blog, and structured well. I believe in moderation, anything, anything in excess is dangerous and unhealthy, whether its foods, drinks, habits, hobbies, lifestyle choices. Too much of anything does create an imbalance - I would say this, scientists are always right to advise people of the potential dangers of consuming a product. But they should only ever warn people about something in the context of it just being possible, not stating that something will occur as fact if they in fact have no such evidence to prove it.
