Re: very wise words of wisdom, Bob...
Thanks.  I got it to say just about everything I wanted.  You know that can be a task.  - Bob

How very true that we should appreciate everything that's in our life today for it can be snatched away in a heartbeat.  I lost both my parents in a blink so I try to live in the now (as much as one can).

But these are yours to keep in your heart and mind forever...these are the things we take with...our love.

a lovely poem and I agree one should make the most of every season and
every day that we are here, but I don't enjoy the thought of you not being here.

Re:I like it too. Isn't it amazing how these things start off from just a
couple of words that sound pretty good and then take on a life you never knew they had? - Bob

A beautiful poem Bob, one of your best...as a matter of fact one of the best I have read for a while...very nice.

Re: I try to get one of every color display I can, and I'm only up to 6 or
7 so far.  Gin keeps telling me to split them in the fall, but I've run out of spots to put the new ones so I keep telling her okay, but I wind up leaving them alone.  They are now threatening to take over entirely.  I may have to resort to splitting them and then ... over the back fence, as you say. - Bob

Re: I went leaf-watching in Vermont with Ginny when we were first married,
and I'll never forget the trouble I had explaining to her why I found autumn thoughts of death and the shortness of life so invigorating ("This is a reminder that we're not going to live forever, Cookie.  Let's have fun.").  It's still a hard sell, but I believe it with all my heart..  - Bob

Well this does make me feel a bit sad Bob. Strangely things do look more engaging as one becomes older. I did like this poem it was factual and I suppose inevitable. Just to let you know I did look in my gardening book. I thought I must see what Bob sees in Hostas. You could really start a collection there are 20 or more species some of which have attractive flowers. Division is the best method of propagation divide and replant the crowns in early spring apparently they last forever.

That is a wise set of thoughts.  No matter what age we are we should  think the same way some times.

How true! This is a fine reminder to appreciate the gift of a new day as they are given to us! sam
