This is a great post and I'm hoping that you do it....soon....and that you share it with us, because I want very badly to read it.

GO for it......Joe Love always wanted to write a book on our travels across America and the quirky people in our travellin' family.  He kept putting it off, feeling sure that he would have the chance later in life......that chance was cut short.   Our time here is limited and in many ways, beyond our control.

Perhaps I'll get some help and put together the tales he wanted to tell......when I get the time.  (See how easy it was to put it off?)

Go for it.....I know it will be a good one!

you should write it all,,put it all together.....and then see what

you want to do with it.....family don't actually want to read, i have found with our story...letting my sister read was a mistake.

but grandchildren, they are more interested.

Or maybe it could be fun..
to write vignettes and then arrange them and see where that leads you.... then decide on the 'lede'

Chronological can be dull although OK if you have some clearly identifiable threads.

I think it's a big ask to identify a 'lede' for an entire memoir although possible if there is some defining moment.

I must say that in moving on to other works I have been happy to leave those journalistic rules aside. it took me a while, I used to explain everything. Now I have learned the difference between explaining and specifying.

I think the inverted pyramid and the lede at the top is perfect for news story but as for the rest let the story unfold - on with the journey.
