Glad things are settling down. I don't think one really gets over the loss of a pet, but some kind of acceptance sets in, and life goes on. Hope the shingles are ok. Thanks for your note.

A trying time for your Mum Malcolm, one always feels so helpless. On a lighter note re. your Hot tub I once saw a crane doing the same but it was a large boat, I suppose it could be used for something.

Getting over the shingles will take some time as of course will poor Claire

Yes, normal can be very relieving. A good idea letting Claire taking the time she needs for her grief, poor thing. I hope your mom has help?
