- Go to I'm Part of American Culture: Ignorant About Soccer
It's still the world's sport!
I played soccer for ten years, and retired from a now-defunct semi-pro team ( The New Jersey Americans ) in 1979. Like any other sport, it's much more exciting to watch in person, but even more fun to play, especially once you've mastered all of the little nuances, and the game itself of course. Oh, and in all those ten years of play, I only scored three goals, all on penalty shots ( I was a defenseman ) and my team went to the championships three consecutive years, and lost all three ( I have three silver medals ). Still had a lot of fun!

I love soccer, and one of my Grandsons played with such a great team of
little guys. I totally embarrassed my DIL...his Mummy, by running up and down the side line screaming encouragement to "MY" team.
he plays field hockey now...and of course i am half way across the world from the games.

R¶ Oh really it’s better to watch soccer in person. Certainly players do. Excellent. BC-A, Bill’s R®st
