Well, in one way I agree, and in another I don't. As you've said, perhaps some time ago women's fashion was designed to "snare" a man, but today, I think the pretense is moot. I've seen dozens of women who look wonderful in a pair of sweatpants, and old sweatshirt, and beat up sneakers, as opposed to some who literally look "over-dressed" in lady's designer suits, custom-fitted blouses, and painful-looking high heels ( and most of them wear too much make-up to boot! ). I understand there is a certain protocol in clothing if you're an executive, a politician, whatever, but I still say that much of it is over-the-top, and unnecessary. Yes, with or without a man, a woman's security and self-respect should lie in what she believes is "her" look, AND "her" comfort zone! And as far as watching Real Housewives . . .well . . . I must admit, personally I'd rather watch two squirrels fighting over an acorn!

Re:
Thanks for concurring! I just knew there would be others, men or women, who agree to give fashion a backseat to comfort. Of all the things people's opinions can differ on, I would never, ever lose sleep wondering what someone might have thought of the clothes I was wearing that day!

Women, it seems to me, as one, and staring at the fashion thing from here,

has always been about giving the male eye what it wants to choose her over her.  Killer heels make the leg long and slim, and the wearer taller and seemingly slimmer, too.

Women see what makes men drool. In societies where having a man is what security and well-being is about, that is important. That's the most basic reason for fashion and crazy shoes and going under the knife and taking the botox needle...   all social insanity, I say!

So, our society is changing, women can create their own security without a man.  But the old habits die hard, especially when so many other games get attached... Ever watch Real Housewives, just for the horror of it?

I have always been a firm believer that one should wear what makes them comfortable! It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks for it is merely their opinion at the end of the day! sam

Re: I am with you, I gave up fashion years ago high heels as well.
Glad to hear it! I'll bet your calves and ankles appreciate your giving up the high heels too. A purple suit with a ruffled shirt? Well, I did wear something similiar to one of my proms, although I can't recall the color combination. Glad those styles are over and done with!

I am with you, I gave up fashion years ago high heels as well.

but then I don't belong in any clubs, cliques or whatever. I buy retro clothing or what i have been wearing for the last ten years or so.

ps.......the seventies and early eighties were ghastly but secretly it was a lot of fun wearing outlandish stuff. my ex. had a purple suit worn with a ruffled down the front shirt.
