It's a necessary compromise if you want direct cold. An ice pack isn't cold enough for my taste, but it would eventually work. The great thing about the ice bottle is you can stock pile them in your freezer. When one melts, there's another one waiting for you in the freezer. You don't have to stop your life to load up another ice bag. The square 16 ounce aloe vera drink bottles are the best for stacking in the freezer. Then you've got emergency ice, water and cool eyes, "to boot!" And anyone over the age of ten doesn't even think about using dangerous-ass, wet, frozen glass.
By the way, plastic is not oil. It is plastic.

Interesting post.....but of course you do realize that although your ice
pack idea is excellent...don't use plastic. It is oil.
