Re: You will make her yours only when you are fully yourself, if you make her
That's all too true but I would still wish for Fred's skill if I had wishes to make...

Re: sam444
thanks so much, my friend, there is a certain exuberant romance in Fred's dancing that would be a joy to replicate

Re: lionreign
I rather hope that they do the same thing... it would be a shame for those skills to be forgotten

He did!  I think my attempts to dance might destroy my home... :(

Re: lovelyladymonk
thank you, I am a big fan of the old films for genuine romance and for their gentle innocence.  Fred did appear to be a gentleman and such a skilled dancer...

I was brought up on
Fred and Ginger; sadly, I substituted Whisky for Fred in my late teens

He was a fabulpous dancer, and it still shows in those old films. Beautifully captured in your words.

yours in this way, I am afraid it won't last long

Great poem and even greater movie your words created.

In other words, to sweep her off her feet! I liked how this came together! You painted such a nice picture with your words that I found myself rooting for the voice of the poem to get up and dance like Fred indeed! Love it, too! sam

z In 1981 they had Anne Murray, singing Can I Have This Dance? Today I wondered, seeing salsa lessons what the Arthur Murray Fres Astaire type dancing schools do today. Congratulations on #3. BC-A, Bill’s R®st

Go for it my friend and twirl your feet as you do your poetry.Have a splendid weekend.....

Before the twirl, perhaps another beginning like the ole soft shoe. But did like your insight into motion--momentary, detailed, and startlimg--and another glimmer into the passibility of truth.

lionreign...and he always made it look so easy.....
(if you have enough room in front of the tv, you just might be able to practice up, and who knows?.....)

I love this one lionreign!  I loved Fred's voice.  He was a fantastic dancer, wasn't he?  I hear that he was a gentle man.

And I also have a new one...
