I recall a sign that intrigued me in childhood, it was on either the Whitestone or Throg's Neck Bridge that connect Long Island to Manhattan Island, NY. In the early 60s, my juvenile logic figured it had something to do with getting out of the way of atomic bombs. It said: In Case of Emergency, Drive Off Bridge.

I think everyone may be fearful of crossing over a bridge "with water in it!" Did you mean crossing a bridge that spans over water? ( Perhaps that's just the proverbial "bridge over troubled water" ) Either way, like I said, everyone is fearful of
something! Personally, my biggest fear right now is dying, only because I cannot bear the thought of leaving my wife all alone ( we have no children ).
