Straightforward, since 1950, we never gave up. Citizens staged activities to raise funds, some vowed to fix the breakwall themselves which is illegal because 3 feet of shoreline property is Fed land. The citizens stated they'd be willing to go to jail. One of many projects to raise funds was to sell Pet Rocks. Citizens and worldwide friends of the community voted the 10 times a day limit to win the top $40,000 Reader's Digest contest - a tedious month-long daily chore. They wrote letters to Congressmen and Presidents. Donations were requested and received. This is to mention just a few of the efforts made over the years. Never, ever did they stop working on it.
