I did not know the history behind these men! What sacrifices! It makes the celebration of today a bit shameful when do not pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many! sam

I did not realize what became of them. This is a real eye opener, for sure.

So often in today's classrooms, socialism is touted more than the value of the Declaration of Independence and the sacrifices made to finalize it. Excellent post! Recent media interviewers questioning people on the street re/U.S. history, found far too many folks who know little of our history.

What a heritage we have--a history that some USA citizens know nothing about, and couldn't really care less.  Last night I thrilled to the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra and their wonderful patriotic music program and fireworks at the Union Station/Liberty Memorial.  It so gave me goosebumps along with feelings of thankfulness and pride in our nation and its history.

This are amazing facts Justi. Our history and those who wrote it are indeed reasons to be proud of being American.   Thank you for sharing these with us. Hope you had a happy day sweetie.
