Like father, like children....so often children display the distinct
mannerisms of their parents.....

Elyse, better late than never, thanks for the Father's Day wishes....
(I'm the one who's late, not you...:)...I never really knew my Dad as he passed away when I was only four, but my sibs have shared with me quite a bit of what he was like....I often wonder what it would have been like to have grown up with both a Mom and a Dad..

the memories tug at the heart even while they bring a smile
The joy is to see a hint of them in the latest generations.

Oh how lovely. You, as usual, did such a wonderful job with poetry and illustration. You are both a poet and painter with excellent talent. Be blessed.

Another wonderful tribute! Love the pictures, and the namesakes look much alike too, don't they?

What a wonderful tribute! I think they had it a lot rougher than we did or do and yet they carried on as though all was okay with the world! Perhaps the world should adopt that attitude instead of fast paced to ultimately get nowhere! I hope Dman had a great day! Shelly

It is sad really E.E. how wars feature in families, nothing changes really. Yes you have features of your daddy squeezed into a sweeter profile. Times were harder in those days men aged quickly as did women. It was no fun to retire for most folk or bring up a family in most circumstances. I used to grumble at my Dad when he said get me half a bottle of rum, to last a week, but thinking back he needed something to help stand the cold in those days, Good old Dad.
