I Heard about that
My Aunt and Uncle raised me after my grandmother died. My uncle was in the Air Force. I remember him talking about that when I was young and still living with my grandparents. He was so upset that they were arrested. He had the feeling,, that IF YOU FOUGHT FOR THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE, IT DIDN'T MATTER WHAT COLOR YOU WERE, YOU DESERVED THE SAME TREATMENT THAT THE OTHER MEN OR WOMEN OF YOUR RANKING GOT. HE IS NEARLY 80 NOW AND STILL FEELS THE SAME WAY,,, AND WE ALL LOVE HIM DEARLY.

Very interesting. Four of my grandsons have a vested interest in the subject of our Black Heroes of America. Since their mother is Black and their Grandfather was a WWII hero, they have been raised on Black History and, I have tried to stay right up on it with them. I am so proud of them.

Great subject, and a wonderful history lesson.
The Tuskeegee airmen were heroes, and not just in battle. If they hadn't struggled for civil rights, along with so many others, there would not have been any. That equality isn't simply understood and accepted in America, which claims to be dedicated to freedom and opportunity for all, seems to be a tough lesson for us to learn.
