I have most often tried to be a part of supporting rather than scoffing. Even with a crazy idea or dream, one can usually pick out at least one point that is worth supporting and encouraging.

I think one needs both the supporting and the scoffing friends to be down
to earth.

I feel that you hit the nail on the head. So important it is to have a strong support network of friends and for friends not to scoff at dreams.
