Hi Sam I used to call at a womans house and it reeked of Beecham's Powder she used to buy a couple of packets every week and I still don't know what it was suppose to cure.

Well Ray a gypsy once told me they ate it in a sandwich for colds I have inhaled it over a bowl of hot water at times. Everything seems to be unsafe for some reason.

I hated Cod Liver Oil.  Yuck!  Yuck!  Yuck!
For years I couldn't eat a fresh orange because Mama would always give us a slice to suck on after a spoonful of the stuff to help take the taste away and I associated the taste of it with the orange.

When my Mama didn't have transportation available and I was having
an asthma attack with no inhalers handy, she would treat me with Vicks rub. I loved the smell of it. My doc says that is a big no-no nowadays but it did keep me breathing..

I sure am happy I never had to take any of that ipecacuanha. I would've barfed just seeing the bottle. That was a different poem from your normal romantic ones old chap.

I can imagine Jay When I felt ill my siblings kept shouting tadpoles and I kept imagining them coming out of frog spawn that I had one let run through my hands and then had gone down with jaundice.

funny how most mums had a remedy that was worse than the disease, isn't it?  Great poem - you brought back memories

My mom made me take something called calcadine, a little black pill you had to chew tasted like sin and she me made me open my mouth to make sure it was gone...it's a wonder we made it through.
