I know folks who have quit heroin but cannot stop smoking. These big tobacco guys are known for their dishonesty. When they were before congress they said that sugar was just as bad as tobacco...that is when I quit, I was used to my dealers telling me "this was some killer stuff" and then to hear that from my tobacco dealer was just too much.

Bull
Cigarettes are incredibly hard to give up.  You see people with oxygen tanks trying to smoke.  Smoking is nasty and not accepted anywhere, yet millions are spent every year on cigarettes. Cigarettes are the only addictive drug known to kill not only the smoker, but also adversely effect their children and anyone around them for long periods of time, that are, incredibly, still legal.  Hell, I have to fight for 30 days of ambien now because of idiots like Tiger Woods crashing into a tree - my insurance provider believes I only need 12 per month and that is all they will pay for!  Yet, I can stop at the front counter and buy a pack of coffin nails!  Cigarettes are a significant source of tax revenue, period - and that's why they will always be around.
