Very interesting! I can imagine the new techniques have brought great changes, but surely papers still have reporters and photographers?

A great post for me because I used to repair those Linotype and Ludlow machines that were typesetting your writing. Computers killed my trade overnight almost.

i would have loved that job and actually when i went to University it
was a toss between nursing and journalism.....actually both areas one must leave their ego home.

Hummm..yes - present technology has changed the way most work is completed now in whatever trade. I can remember standing at the printer's waiting for copies of the little local newspaper to roll off the press so I could load them into my car and deliver them to the drop-spots. The noises, the smells...another era. Thanks for this informative post, Pat_B, and the memories...
