Okay, but "nice old" doesn't do it for me.  If I Loved You and When You Walk Through a Storm have always brought tears to my eyes.  The plot of Carousel, too, I find moving, if a bit overlong.  I'm a fan.

Re: They were some team! If well-performed, their "Old Man River"
and "Only Make Believe"  from SHOWBOAT can still  be magical.  A lot of good poetry lives in pop music !
Gordon Lightfoot, Carly Simon and Paul Simon, James Taylor are names that come to my mind.  Cole Porter, too!

Re:I was a bashful teenager with several crushes when this song
was popular, and it melted my brain every time I heard it.  It still pushes my buttons.
