HIT HOME!

omg reading this post really hit home with me!  My stepson lost his mother to cancer when he ws 11 and the WHOLE family on both sides spoiled him ROTTEN because they felt sorry for him.  I should exclude my mother in law from that because she TRIED!  I TRIED to bring some reality to his life at the cost of being the "wicked stepmother" for daring to say NO!

He's 32 years old now and has been in SO MUCH trouble with the law but continues to get out of it one way or another................never takes responsibility for anything.  It's always somebody elses fault.  Been married three times and has a child from each marriage..........it goes on and on and on and on...............He's MAD because he can't keep up with child support on one and she won't let him see him.  It's all HER fault................geesh............

Re:
well it's sad that as parents we don't have much training other than what our parents did .... my mom had a major struggle with 6 kids so close together....

So sad.  Sometimes I think parents who spoil are in fact neglectful, and they end up raising children with similar problems as those who suffered overt neglect or abuse.  I don't mean to be harsh about your mom, perhaps she was fatigued, but I finally decided with my own family that whatever caused the issues with my siblings (it was parenting, definitely), they are intelligent adults who have a choice to live a life of rage or get help to overcome it. to you for your strength.

Parenting requires a certain toughness and the ability to discipline when necessary. Sometimes one has to lose a child to love them.

I think that is why they call it "spoiling".

how sad that your mother did that to her. I think spoiling is the worse kind of child abuse because it doesnt seem like child abuse, but everybody I know that has been spoiled had to pay the price later in life and sometimes their entire life.

I was the oldest of a bunch of kids and I was the one that was spoiled and got everythign I wanted. It took alot of pain for me to get over my attitude towards life, but God saw to it that i suffered greatly and thanks to that I was able to overcome and grow and become a productive spoiled member of society. I am still paying the price for my mistakes, and I will my entire life. But I am grateful that I was saved.

I love the idea of having a bunch of sisters and brothers, however, its the relationship that you have that really matters, and sadly it is not what it should be.

great post.
