I like it that you did not like the question and questioned the validity of the question without falling into the trap of coming up with negative qualities and lumping them together for all youth. One thing about young people, is that they are very discerning about their teachers. They do not respond well to teachers who are disenchanted with teaching.

yes being a teacher is a challenge, like you my daughter gave up teaching after receiving her degree

I am in agreement with you! I found the question troubling, too! It seemed the responses were more appropriate to being a teenager than a student! In truth there are students who do not want to be in the classroom, I have found those types of students are hands on learners and need a bit of mobility! She is right, when the student feels like they should be there, the job of teaching is far easier! This was a very well written post! I do enjoy reading your writing and the objectivity of it all as well! It seems like I am to the end of the post before I am ready to be done reading, another sign of good writing! sam

Fascinating and troubling that the negative was so focused upon..
If teachers and adults in general are to reach, relate to and effectively guide our youth, such stereotyping must cease. I commend you for seeing that. Great insights and well written - Thank you for sharing.
