IF you have time

On your way back and it's the right time, you might want to take a side trip. IT is on the road from Las Vegas to Reno. Just outside the small town of Tonopah Nevada there is a road that leads off to the north. Depending on the time of year you hit it, depends on wether you can make it to the town. Belmont is the name of the town you will be going to. IT is a so called "Ghost town". AS you approach the town you will see a cemetery on the right, and if you look straight up at the mountains you will see what appears to be 3 angels carved into the mountain. The cemetery is filled with graves of the miners and their families that died from Cholera back in the late 1800's to the early 1900's.

When I finally arrived at the town the first thing I asked about was who carved the Angels. I was told and this is a direct quote

"AH, so you also saw the angels. That means that you are one of GOD's children, a true believer. They aren't carved, they are a natural formation. When I hiked into this town back in the mid 1900's thinking I might try to revive the mine, I knew with all of my heart and soul that I was home. The Angels were enough to convince me that I had indeed found my home here on earth and I intend to be buried in that cemetery that the Angels care for and look down upon."

That old man probably isn't still alive as it's been almost 25 years since I was there. But, believe me, anyone wanting to see something spectacular and awesome should make it a priority to find Belmont Nevada on the map and try to go there to see those awesome Angels. My camera wasn't good enough to capture a good image but someday, I intend to go back there and see those Angels once more. When I go I intend to take flowers to put on that man's grave. He didn't laugh, or question me about what I saw, he simply accepted me as a me, someone who believed in a Higher Power. One of the best side trips I ever made.

Be safe, and have fun. I look foward to lots of pics and getting up every morning to read about your adventures.

I think I'd like to follow you.  Looks like you are going to miss Missouri.  I'll have to visit my Iowa relatives and wave as you go by.
