Very interesting, FSI!
I managed a pre-school several years ago and we had learning stations set up in a room. Sounds similar to your gallery walks, as we would revolve the children from station to station to give them a variety of learning experiences. Had some of the same draw-backs too, as far as chaos possibilities, lol.

Friend Richard loves doing "Gallery Walks". He is a Docent at The PAM. Since he was a school teacher until he retired, he loves it when groups of children are doing his "Gallery Walk". One of his most favorite is Egyptian Art History. I love taking part when I go to Phoenix.

As you say, group work has its advantages and its disadvantages...

I do like the idea! But, I have a sour taste in my mouth for group work! it has the flavor you described! When my oldest son was a senior in high school he was assigned a student to do the American Government project and the other student did not do his part so it was going to cause my son to get an F, even though he did his portion! And that would prevent graduation! The teacher allowed my son in the end to present what he had done and he earned a B in the course and went on to graduate! But, it caused a lot of unrest for a period of time! The other guy went on to be a graffiti artist of a sort and then spend time in jail for his artistry! lol So group work, not a big fan! sam

I have helped my son with a school Science club whenever I had the time
we did one of these Stations and they were great. The children learned something different at each Station where we in charge we undertaking an experiment for them to participate in. Good fun.

Interesting FSI to learn of your reasons that led you not to be a teacher.
