lol, this is great, today of all days. pegions flew over my head and
actually touched my ear, they also helped themselves to some of our bread, that is the bravest pegions I have encountered

What a write up and so stunning at the end! I, like Azur, saw it all before the picture, too! This is superb, Naut! I aver, it could be a fine prose poem! Shelly

Yes, the Hawks are serious predators.  OH MY --- this did not happen --- say it isnt so --- while you were eating?  Great pic by the way!!! wow - I adore the way you write NAUT, you're so prolific and wonderfully so.  Elyse

*this happened to me one day while I was reading by a garden window... but I didn't get a pic because i was open-mouthed stunned at what I saw...it was a 'grackle' bird or smaller raven 'round these parts and that hawk took it down in seconds and I was horrified but yet in awe of the power of those talons and beak and you name it... ~ and I found a new respect for the Hawk.

I feel for the pigeon but the hawk does have to live too .. Loved how you took us through a culinary delight with the perfect ambience..Dimitris have always had lots of luck..LOL.

what a fabulous picture and as I am not so fond of pigeons I can't feel
too bad. Besides as much as I hate to see my animals in danger...the soaring Hawk is a wonderful creature to behold. Very well written and I like your choice of beverage old chap.

You did a fine job of painting the scene with your words.

Love the contrast between fine dining and the
gore of fang and claw. Beautifully done. Sentiment aside, the getting of enough food to survive is no easy task in nature, where no pre-packaged freezer full of seasoned bits exists. And in geologic time, it hasn't been that long since humans began cooking the bloody bits.

I would hate him too.
I hate to see cats eat birds.
I would hate to see a cat eat a mouse.
I hate to see lions eat gazelles on the Serengeti Plains on NG.
