Re: actually even for the greatest this is true. I would give up but I can't.
I think of an incident back when I was in Camelot and remarked to the piano player, "Why do we do this to ourselves?  Everyone else in the house pays admission and then goes home.  They're the smart ones!"  He replied with a wisdom beyond his years (I'd been his English teacher 15 years before), "Because we don't have a choice!"  I've never heard a better answer.

Re: CC, a good morning
is when I wake up with a new idea and so don't have to use the turkey I had planned last night.  As I think I mentioned, the damned Hoyer lift does precisely half the work, the other half is mine, together with whateve rsnow-shoveling is needed these days - quita a lot, actually. Poetry's still the best game in town.

This doesn't apply to me much Bob I keep falling asleep and have to do a hatchet job. Glad you are coping, the trouble is I find one doesn't notice a strain for perhaps a couple of days and even lifting a tiny person is hard work. I'm pretty fair thank you Bob, but will be glad when it gets warmer.

actually even for the greatest this is true. I would give up but I can't.

I find that those pure moments  happen usually when one least expect them...  I don't believe one can try and get them... they just happen as if the hand of G-d touched us for a second and for that brief instant we were gifted with a glimpse ... a hint of what we truly are. Great quote teach... specially coming from one so human that achieved so much.  xoxoxo

Re: Elyse- thanks for the visit -
what's fascinated me ever since I heard this quote was a question of proportion - what he might consider a mediocre performance would probably be a career-high performance for another dancer, right?  As for what HE would consider topnotch, that boggles the mind!

ah, Mikhail Barishnikov - he must have said this after a long ballet with pas de deux partnering.  I understand it's tiring for the male dancer.  I don't know if I agree but then it depends on what the creator is aspiring for.  Sometimes 'creativity' is simply, mental and neuro - cognition ~breathing.  Interesting quote and blog title, Bob.  Elyse

We are in search of pure moments!

Well, I'd suppose it depends
on what a person like him means by pure moments.   - Bob

I agree that most of the time we are merely trying, but....
there csn be many more than a couple of moments.
