I agree about the availability of guns and carrying them concealed. That's why I made the speaker in the poem such a blockhead. The first time I visited Texas, I brought back two vivid memories: a 24-hour gun supermarket and my brpther-in-law's dentist-neighbor who drove a pickup with a Winchester in a rifle rack in the
rear window. He didn't even know how to load it, but he wanted to look cool and country!

I don't know Bob... While its true that people do the killing... if they did not have the gun it would be quite hard for them to shoot someone dead... Given they could use other methods to accomplish their ends but a guy with a knife can not kill six and injure ten as it happened in Tucson. Guns are very deadly and we have to face that. They do not belong on a campus where people go to learn or in the supermarket or in the mall... We are living in sad times my friend xoxoxo

Words kill and guns kill. People are less likely to kill without guns, although they should have a right to defend themselves. More people will die when more people carry guns casually. Life is full of grey areas; this is a difficult issue.

not a good idea to be allowed to carry a deadly weapon, i think tasers or mase would be just as good

Very true when we value objects instead of caring and the end results of our life styles..We sometimes learn the tragedy will exist only when we can understand the importance of life regardless of what you want to believe and accept we have choices.Then maybe as they been said- Can we get along! Excellent meanings to ponder! Though unfortunately those who
could benefit from doing so (and in turn benefit the rest of the world) most likely won't.
It boggles the mind how armed one can be (legally!) in this country. I have nothing against self defense, but to have actual arsenals/stockpiles of weaponry capable of shooting numerous people in one barrage is a whole 'nother beast..
