Well, looks like Femia got the answer to her question from TAPS above...
That is very naughty Chiff Chiff making us all feel sad and sorry and then having a secretary as the other woman...

I was one of those secretaries long, long ago, actually 1960, who "took a letter" of that sort, and then could not type it up and mail it. Boss was juggling a wife and toddler in one hand and a pregnant co-worker in the other, while everyone in the office knew and gossiped and clucked their teeth. I pondered for some time, scrapped up my typed paper, tore my shorthand page into tiny pieces and walked out, for I liked them both--wife and mistress--and did not want to see how it ended.

Re: CC
Don't worry Femia A muse can be more beautiful than a dream. A muse can whisper and charm the coldest heart. The secretary well she has retired, I think.

Well how could a poor man excuse himself Simone. Having raised hopes, I bet there are more dear John letters written to poor guys risking their lives. I'm not including you. I know you are sensitive and loyal .

Well I am a bit disappointed that the secretary was writing it..I might just ask the "swedish marque" if she would consider a secretarial position CC. Right now she is a model. I think you got the readers into a frustating mood and then let them off fuming ..lol Very Clever poem.

The secretary brings in another dynamic to this poem. A creative idea to bring her into it this way.

What??? cold --- I feel the shades of ice on this one --- having the letter dictated? Now, really couldn't he have least dipped his ink to write on the page? Actually this was so sad and forlorn and well, it touched me all but the ending - suckered me right in. Good write by the way, ChCh ~

farewells are never easy, C.C......
don't you think you should have kept a few of those stars as a rememberance?.

... And I'd watch that secretary of yours (hey, not too closely) as she sounds just too good to be true.

Reading this brought tears to my eyes as I felt I was stopped in my heart to know what it is to be no more a muse in ones life then I realized how your writing tell the truth of life itself and how it feels real as one reads your every words written. WOW! I wonder what the secretary would say? Femia
