I recommend for dark at unexpected times,
one of those camper's or caver's head lamps. Much handier than a flashlight for all uses in a dark house!

We exchanged lots of books this Christmas too with the idea that we
both read them all. We have enough for the year I do believe. Good luck with the storm...clear blue sky here.
