Thank you very much, Pat.  I've passed your good wishes onto Ell....and Samantha, of course.  A Happy New Year to you too Pat, and all the loves in your life...

Perhaps it's time I tried to make a career out of writing, instead of farting about and pretending.  If procrastination is the thief of time I should get locked up for 'grand theft life.'

TAPS
I hadn't considered that possibility Taps.  I think I'll settle for 'cute' as well.

Happy New Year, Johnny Mac, and to the lovely Ell and all you love...
I hope your career as a queer dueker (sp?) continues unabated. And it still means odd to me. Words are such flexible rubber bands, aren't they.

Hahaha! Thanks, I smirked at the Scot wife's reaction.
Youtube was a rotoscoped and sound edited light saber (ala Starwars) version of a duelk in the movie "Princess Bride", very wekk done and sort of funny.

At a certain age--Yes!
But, I guess there are worse thing to be called than "cute".
Some are called "dirty old men".  Some old "sea hags" are called "shrew" and/or "crone".  Guess I'll settle for "cute".

It's unlikely that she would almost believe him, majroj.  First of all she would have to look it up to see what it meant - and to see if it applied to humans.  As her husband normally only used it when talking of his greyhound or racing pigeon, she wouldn't understand.  If her husband was a shepherd she would know that it only applied to his sheep - the sexy one.

Unrelated but a spirit lifter nonetheless

And not a Scot in the whole scene. A Scot would have just dirked the guy and be done wi' it.

Maybe that's something I should change - soon.  I have been 'Mostly harmless' for too bluidy long.  It's time tae get bolshie and start speaking in a Scottish dialect, pal.

Did you hear about the Scotsman who loved his wife so much that he almost told her?

I've had that description aimed at me before, and I couldn't duck fast enough.  I think I mentioned before that when I was a pre-teen I was annoying my father so much in his workshop by asking what he thought were irrelevant questions.  He shook his head and said "You've always been a queer wee deuker."  (that was back in the old days when 'queer' meant 'odd.')

Re: Cute ain't all that bad... What if she'd said "quaint."

Like the entry about Earth in the "Hitchiker's Guide to the Universe".

"Mostly Harmless".

End quote.

I hear ya. Wait 'til they start patting your shoulder. No wonder cranky old men and women exist, to show 'em they're still kicking.
