Don't listen to ShellyB!
I even have a dog named Kindle!  Well, I got her before the Kindle book came out.....

As I told PatB...the Kindle will increase your reading,  you save money...most best sellers are $9.99.   If you have favorite authors, thousands of previously written books are available for 2-3 bucks.   Thousands of free classics!

If you are into it, you save gas and trees!

It is the same size and weight as a book.  If you buy the leather case you open it up just like a book.   Don't get the cheaper one that only downloads through a wifi connection, spend the extra bucks and get the model that also downloads through cell connections (no charge).....you can visit the Kindle store while waiting in a doctor's office, in a car, or waiting at an airport and buy a book and have it in your kindle in 30 seconds.....

It is not back-lit like your Iphone but instead is literally a thin ink tank that forms the words through an electronic signal.   So it's extremely easy on your eyes and dependent on  your room lighting just like a regular (old fashioned) book.

One charging lasts two weeks, it can hold 2000 books....adjust the size of the text,  highlight, bookmark pages, and write notes on what your reading.

So if you order one....use the code CORBDAL........

( I get $20 buck a sale)   LOL just kidding.

And I'm glad you're feeling like yourself again...

I fought the idea of a Kindle or a Nook or one of those Sony readers...
And then I thought of the buggy whip, and how it became obsolete when people traded in horses for Model T Fords. The publishing industry has been struggling for a good ten years, ever since the internet began stealing our leisure time. Bookstores, buggy whips, "progress."

I'm glad you're feeling better! And the Kindle thing is certainly interesting, but I think I still prefer books, even if they sometimes get stained with coffee and chocolate, but where I can make notes in the margins...

Re: I'm glad you are feeling better, BUT

LOL Shelly,

I will never give up the feel of a real book in my hand but I have to admit...having that book NOW without leaving the house...so awesome!

I'm glad you are feeling better, BUT

buying a Kindle is SO wrong!!!!  I'm ashamed of you.  Do you realize what this technology does to bookstores?  UGH!

SAVE THE BOOKSTORES!!!!  DON'T BUY KINDLES!!  That's a dumb name for that anyway.

Maintaining healthy standards is what matters the most, but good luck on that kindle. It certainly is worth it.

Re: Are the other devices like Kindle any good? I saw some on Amazon and

Ariala,

I have heard mixed reviews on some of the others...I would go with either a Kindle (Amazon) or Nook (BN) because from what I have heard some of the others won't work with certain sites.
