Your mention of a "sand truck" took me back to the '60's living in Keewanaw
Adnohr,
It's that little peninsula that sticks off the UP of Michigan, up into Lake Superior. Talk about someplace having MANY feet of "lake effect" snow! I hadn't thought about sand trucks for many years. Salt, like is used to clear the roads around here, doesn't work to melt snow very well, below about 20 degrees F. It just lays on top of the snow, like sand does, and doesn't provide as much traction as sand does. Sand is cheaper than salt, doesn't pollute the lakes as salt does, so it makes sense to use sand instead. The trucks all have huge snow blowers attatched to the front, and they pile the mixture of sand and snow high alongside the roadways. Sunlight warms the banked mixture during the day, which freezes into a hard crfust. Once I tried hunting rabbits near Houghton, stepped off the woods-side of the crusted snow and dropped down into the UN-crusted snow, up to my neck! Climbing back out was quite a challenge! I had to lay my shotgun down horizontally, and carefully climb up on it, to get back to firm footing. No rabbit hunting up there for me! If I hadn't been carrying the shotgun, they might have found my bleached bones, laying beside the road in August, when the last of the snow melts!

I knew the Habs would rebound! And I was certain Price would have a better game. I hope the news is the right news for your son, too! And I continue to pray for your brother and your son! I love how you have such a grand friend in Kilroy! sam

Some wacky weather going on over there, I see...Wonderful it is when people have a sense of humor in spite of it all. We can all learn a lot from them.

Dear Neighbor of the Bush
You are not only a very good writer but a beautiful person with a heart so big. I love your stories about you and your brother's laughter and joy during his illness. We are continuing to pray for both your brother and son. Gallant ones are difficult to come by these days. This was such a real and loving post.

Such a tapestry, threads of hope and joy, thin sad ones, and
in the end your posts are warm as a fuzzy blanket. I love the way you think.
