"Last ripples sparkle as white as lace
and more would mean less." --- CC, the close cinches with such soft froth - foam of the ebb and flow of this moving poem. This is another great read/write of yours. E.E.

Re:
Well John I don't really want to write every day sometimes I look at an old poem and try to improve on it, one does need time and the right feeling. I thought you were retired so you go up in my esteem. I know I write rubbish sometimes, but I haven't got a tidy mind so it is nice when you OK one sometimes.

Re: CORNCRAKE
Yes a bad feeling Wiley, you must have had a little bit of a good time you would be a very bitter man if you didn't feel upset. Kabu will tell you that, it doesn't mean that you would ever want to go back to that time. It is just human kindness.

Sounds as though deep thoughts have resurfaced to be dealt with.
The water may be deep but your poem ensures it is COOL!

CORNCRAKE
I had a telephone call from my oldest daughter in the west, that left me feeling like your pebble skipping across the water and then sinking into oblivion. She called to advise me that her mother from whom I have been divorced for 32 years, had suffered a heart attack, and my emotions simply went back to that angry time and I've been underwater ever since.

your're hard to keep up with (since I'm not retired and you keep writing everyday). I really liked this one--a shimmering surface with unknown depths, and a voice that would seem to reconcile two disparate directions into the voice of self-knowlege. All the parts work for me--both the written form and the inner descent thru dramatugy. One of your best.
