malcolm, we'll be praying for the family involved in this tragic
accident...what a shock to them to have a son go so fast!....(but don't you feel bad or beat yourself up over it - you had no way of knowing what had happened)

Sympathies for the boy's family--life is so unpredictable. Thanks for your visit--enjoyed the story of your celebration of Guy Fawkes!

Sometimes the world has a way of forcing us to check our perspective.  I hope that all the recent tragedies don't colour yours too much

You're right, we get worked up over things which are often trivial compared to the sorrows and tragedies we hear and read about.

My goodness you have been beset with awful tragedies of late! I would not be so hard on yourself, we never know what will happen and when things become a bone of contention they need to be addressed! On the sewage thing, it's almost like they know they have you boxed into a corner so to speak and you are at their mercy! sam

I'm sorry to hear of a good guy dying at such a young age.
And you're right. We all spend too much time sweating the small stuff.  I hope things go better tomorrow.

Malcolm
That pump shouldn't be anything more major than a stuck trap safety device or the like. Is there not a warranty on it for a year at least?Tough having to deal with a death at the same time. I'll keep y'all in my prayers old chap.†

Oh, Malcolm...I sit here crying to read this.  You seem to have such sorrow and tragedy surrounding you these last few weeks.  This girl and her family have my prayers.  As do you and your family.  We just never know, do we?

As for feeling cross earlier, don't be too hard on yourself for that.  We all have such days.

It is ridiculous usually it is some poor girl having to take the slack while the so called manager just lets it ride over him. you should have warned that the health hazard might reflect back on them. You can't blame yourself for all the worries and sadness in this world, I used to do that and it doesn't make any difference Sympathy yes guilt no. Take it easy malcom.

That is horrible tragic news and I feel so blessed that I have never
experienced such a horror in my own family anywhere. It does put things into perspective I do agree although a sewage pump on its death bed is no joke and can cause serious health problems. Don't beat yourself up too much, it's pretty awful to punish you severely for needing them before the yearly check....they should ensure that it will work for the year under these conditions.
