You're so right. For me, the "Dolly Suite" transports me back to my pre-school days, to "Listen with mother" on the radio. I used to love it (but before your time, Malcolm!)

I don't know that song but I do find that music is one of the strongest aids to memory and one of the strongest inspirations I know

I don't recall that particular song,
but the New Christy Minstrels were on a big record album the kids used to listen to "all the time," when they were in the house. One line I remember "a snake's belt slips because he has no hips, and a boy's best friend is his mother."  Nice blog you write, and this one especially!

I like songs that bring back memories! How frightening to be in the hospital and so young! The children do grow up far too quickly! sam

Malcolm
Yes, music can do that to me too, quite lovely when it happens.

Three wheels on my wagon
Yes music does do that. There are several songs that transport me back even to a certain day in time.

Songs are a great way to relive those times from the past.

I miss those days too sometimes, Malcolm. But wait, when the granchildren come, we get to do them all over again...without the 'staying-up-all-night-with-sick-child' thingie!

You just reminded me of some silly songs that I invented
for my Grandchildren when they were little....their Mummy tried to sing them for them when they were misssing me and     No..Mummy that is all wrong!
