My friend posted the following:

No isn't easy...
He never said it would be easy, But I know it will be worth it :)
Is it that following Christ isn't easy or that we make it hard by longing after that which kept us bound. From the story in Joshua the children of Israel longed for the security of Egypt - but that also meant slavery. They instead had to go where they did not know, but experienced the miraculous and walked in freedom.
For this demonstrates our love for God: We keep his commandments, and his commandments are not difficult...I Jn 5:3
We think this is hard, try living without him.
