I don't have a pet..
but my cousin -when she was small- used to 'hide' her cat either in the shoe cupboard (as the cat jumped in there to have a nap) or in the rubbish bin (a medium size one that has a pedal to open and close it).. Everytime we heard a funny noise, we knew that the cat was hiding.. or hidden, to be precise..

Maybe she is just wanting more alone time now that she is old. One of ours that died a couple of years ago did weird things. I have one now that changes beds about weekly.

Had to laugh...yes they sure can find some great spots to go.
Graysome loves to sit in the clothes dryer so I have to be careful when I load it.
