Things that happen in childhood can be frightening as you have so very well depicted here; they can leave a mark that has to be overcome! This felt very real as I have had my troubles from childhood! sam

Night Rage
This poem touched me deeply, and as I read it my stomach tightens, I am reliving my own nightmares of a child so afraid to move as my parents fight and not knowing what to do, I just want to hide.

Dear 2902 Thank you isn't an appropriate statement.
We had something come up during our devotional yesterday, related to being a peacemaker.  My husband said I was always one for him and our children.  Then, he said I should think about what made me that way.  I told him, it was the arguments I lived through.  He said, write about it.  So, I did.  I think it was helpful for me. If it helps someone else, especially another child, then good, I'm glad I wrote it.  The writing was too memorable. love and joy, Kay

night rage
This poem presses some important button deep inside of me - and I think anyone else who reads it.  It's the most vivid insight that I've ever read into a child's heart.  When my mother was going through a particularly bad session of menopause, I remember my dad taking her down five flights one winter night(we lived in a walkup) for a walk down to Fordham Road and back - and wondering if they were ever coming back.  It takes a kid to think of that.  Still, it speaks to us who are grown uo and have had bitter spats we hoped our kids hadn't listened to too closely or too long.. We were their world. You've written a memorable poem.
