Re: Rockingrector_retd
It does make it much harder to enthuse about the season, doesn't it?

Re: TAPS
I try to be more like that but winter is not my favourite season, so be honest it's not even in my top 5 favourite seasons...

Re: Corncrake
Too true, but then would we value it so highly if it wasn't so fleeting?

Re: lionreign...
I love those days too, just as I love each indication of the return of Spring. Winter, however, is not my favourite season

This feels a little sad - bit I know what you mean, about the death of summer. Skies are grey and the wind and rain ever with us...

Love your poem, although I guess I am a rebel at heart, for I love the beginning of each new season and look forward to what it will bring, rather than trying to hold onto the one that is leaving us.

lionreign...
there is a sadness about losing summer and all that goes with it, but we can always rest assured it will return..

..(I love it when after a series of chilly autumn days we get what amounts to a summer day, when the temp shoots way above normal and summer seems to stick its tongue out at fall as if to say "I'm not finished quite yet!")..
