Re: Rockingrector_retd
It does make it much harder to enthuse about the season, doesn't it?

Re: TAPS
I try to be more like that but winter is not my favourite season, so be honest it's not even in my top 5 favourite seasons...

Re: Sam444
thank you so much, my garden is being turned into a monument to Spring - each step of the sun's return will be welcomed with new blooms

Re: Corncrake
Too true, but then would we value it so highly if it wasn't so fleeting?

Re: lionreign...
I love those days too, just as I love each indication of the return of Spring. Winter, however, is not my favourite season

This feels a little sad - bit I know what you mean, about the death of summer. Skies are grey and the wind and rain ever with us...

Love your poem, although I guess I am a rebel at heart, for I love the beginning of each new season and look forward to what it will bring, rather than trying to hold onto the one that is leaving us.

My flowers are fading and I am sad to see them leave! Wonderful imagery that tells the story so well! sam

lionreign...
there is a sadness about losing summer and all that goes with it, but we can always rest assured it will return....(I love it when after a series of chilly autumn days we get what amounts to a summer day, when the temp shoots way above normal and summer seems to stick its tongue out at fall as if to say "I'm not finished quite yet!").....

It is sad in a way lionreign, the good things never seem to last as long as we wish.Nice poem

(thumpety thump thump) this made my heart beat as well as a tear well.  WOW --- how you wrote so well of autumn's tendering and summer dying.  Elyse
