Re: the quotation
Shucks, mam, we old English teachers have particularly alert antennae for such things.  Personally, I'm just glad it didn't keep me from appreciating your fine poem! That happens.  Incidentally, I'm glad you liked the limerick. For me, they always start with the last line, but I got stuck looking for two rhymes for "...Wearing a capital 'F'".  Then it struck me - change to "...With the capital 'F' on his chest."  Opened up all kinds of possibilities!  Thanks for the visit.

Re: conversation
Thank you!  I'm not very good at light exchanges like the one in the poem, but I've heard some pros!  I DO think such young women are remarkable for their understanding, fun, and equanimity.

Re: tipped
I surely did, and Texas waitresses have a very special place in my heart.  When I explained to one in Arlington that my little son of two years was named Robert Lee Murken like me, after Robert E. Lee, she gave us coffee on the house!  My daddy came from lower New York via Savannah Georgia.

LOL this was so cute!  If it weren't for the waitresses the older guys just would not have any fun!

Re: re your kitty

I forgot to mention, I DO have a lady doctor (my endocrinologist - I need one since having my pancreas out).  Her name is Marina Strazhavitzky.

We call her "doctor".

your kitty

Thank you but I'll leave the dollar there.  You make]more money than I do at this, so I'll consider it an investment.  And as for your lady-doctor's opinion, haven't you ever heard the saying, "Only the good die young?"

And, while I'm at it, here's a funny thing I ran across.  I'm reading a very witty biography of Mark Twain, and it seems his mother, Jane Clemens ((No, no one calls her Jane Twain), once said of him, after fishing her little non-swimming son from the river for the 9th time, "That's okay. People destined for the gallows don't have to fear water."

Can you swim?
