Re:

Lustorlove,

It's hard to do that with a roomate.  I have had tooooooooooooooo much noise for the past year and a half.  My brother and I are both pretty quiet people and by 9 or 10 PM, we have both headed for our own rooms for that quiet.

Re:

Nita,

I think sometimes we forget how short our time really is with our kids before they want their own quiet time.

Re: Sometimes I get small reminders of the kids' growing up days

LOL Pat,

I so get what your mom said.  Wouldn't be nice to be able to assign the icky stuff to a twin!

Re: Bel, I don't think there's any question we all need a "quiet time"

Rumor,

When I am alone, I often listen to music until I start to doze off.

Re: Quiet Time

Kayjoy,

I do agree with that.  But I have also seen God in my daughter so many times.

Re: I used to crave quiet time when the kids were small

I miss Dr. Suess, Poet.

I keep threatening to read one of his books during my radio show.  LOL!

Re:

FSI

I do as well.  But there is much to be said about the noise of a family and all the joys that come with it.

Re: There's pleasure in communication and there is pleasure in quiet.
Yes there is SF!  I love both, but these days I could enjoy a little "noise".  I will always need and enjoy my quiet time.

There's pleasure in communication and there is pleasure in quiet.

Quiet Time
Nice read!  I enjoy my quiet time after many years of sounds and noise.  I can hear God a whole lot better too! love and joy, Kay

So many people are unable to appreciate quiet time and need to fill any quiet with the TV or radio. It's great that you have such happy reflections and memories, and have even picked up old hobbies again.

Bel, I don't think there's any question we all need a "quiet time"
(or "times") during the course of the day/night....we'd go crazy without them, and whatever comes along with them.....I can't fall asleep immediately either - usually unwind by reading...

Sometimes I get small reminders of the kids' growing up days
with barely managed chaos most days, hot and cold running little leaguers, my only quiet time at 5:00 a.m. for a cup of coffee before the onslaught. These days I have all the quiet time I need, sometimes more. I think of it as a reward for those decades of being on the run, never catching up with the dishes, the laundry. Found out what Mom meant when she'd say she wished sometimes she had a twin.

Isn't it paradoxical that we yearn for quiet time, and also miss the children's chatter! Thanks very much for your visit.
