I think you may be right - the original poem had a slightly different twist, so maybe that ending is a relic that dies hard. Thanks for the visit and advice. You know, one other memory of such a storm dates back to once while driving north on th Palisades - I couldn't take my attention away from the rearview mirror where the end of the world seemed to be developing and pursuing me!

Sounds like the 5 minute wind storm we had the other nite (NJ only 15 mi from GW). Liked the poem but would delete last stanza in (...). An after thought only happens after the poem is written, and hardly ever has an inegral context. When I hit "raindrops" I was already running thru my mind closing my own windows. So I didn't see any reason for the stage directions. But I did like the peice.

I love summer storms
Partly because I just moved back from the PNW and thunderstorms were pretty much a novelty where I was living.
