CC I like the way you reached back to this memory - feeling the 'probably' and truly then, feeling about the loss of this Magpie. Very touching to me. EE

Re: magpie
Glad to hear your news Bob. Well I sometimes feel for animals, even chickens. Nature is cruel it is a job to get a lion to eat grass. Pretty fair thank you Bob defying providence.

Very heartwarming and sad at the same time. You have a big heart apparently for you have captured me in your cage of life to ponder on your beautiful words written as I read along with chirping sounds of joy.

Hello, I'm back (sort of). Only yesterday I found myself wondering if goldfish ever yearn for - well - something more. No kidding! We must be on some weird wavelength together.
i don't know about you, but that thought scares the hell out of me!
I used to be a guide at a wild animal zoo populated by animals that are physically or emotionally unable(brought up as pets) to survive in their normal habitat. It was sad watching the coyote and the raccoon pacing back and forth. We even had a nasty rattler behind glass with a nasty appetite for the petrified mice that got dropped in each day. No one consulted them first.
Gin finally had her neurosurgery today and except for being groggy from sedation and getting up at 4 this morning, she's here at home resting comfortably. It's good to be back, even this much! How are you?

Poignant and wonderfully written, CC!

I had a tiny turtle that I used to take around and show to the neighborhood, then when a favorite tv program or school time came, back to his lonely cage he went.
