I think it's hard for many. I suspect because the biological mother is such a disaster it made it easier for me to be able to have such a relationship with Pam.

I totally agree. Biology does not make a family. My family and I raised my 3 year old cousin since her mom passed away (because of cancer). And she has always been a blessing to us, though we were not biologically family. God bless you and your daughter as well.
