Bel, its already been said by morethan one person below....

letting go of all that extra baggage and crap we carry around is the best thing for us to do..hanging on to it as some do, it seems to in some way become a safety net for them, but no thanks!

forgive, forget (this can be tough), and move on......

I think forgiveness is for us and as you say it does give great peace! I have had a rough go of things in life that were out of my control and it's not what happens so much as how we overcome what has happened! sam

Your acceptance and forgiveness of others is healthy for you --
something to do with a saying: the vessel that holds the bitterness gets eaten away. Your decision about how to deal with your mother is the healthiest thing you can do for yourself, and by extension, for everyone who loves you.

Re: letting go thats tough but good
It can be tough but it sure feels better than hanging onto the garbage and dragging around with me.  LOL!

Shelly
I didn't say I condone bad behavior nor do I allow someone to repeatedly mistreat me.  I make the choice do they belong in my life or not.  If this is someone who has shown a pattern of bad behavior I am not going to martyr myself and accept it either.

I use to forgive people all of the time, but since I've gotten older
forgiving isn't as easy anymore.   (((HUGS)))
