Lo Simone it is not really imagery I have seen it happen so often as you must have, I was trying feel what a person experiences at the onset of dementia. Perhaps I should have explained it better. There is nothing sadder, but fortunately I don't think there is pain involved . The pain is with the one who loves the person.

Yes, one usually does have to 'know' this to understand or feel what another does...I understand that.
Looking into the cup (offered) - or onto the shadows ~ onto this soul I see deprivation or one withdrawn and the sleep inside of shadow(s) is as crying - crying out for ...
oh dear but this was good CC - because I see much in the imagery - I can add my own imagery as well. Powerful writing and it brings such emotion to the 'reader' ~ EE

The speaker is so lost, and I can tell that such a feeling is burning the person's insides up. If one does believe in a soul, which I do, I would go a step further and say that it's eating the speaker's soul.
