Tim,
My dad cut my brother's hair once -- he did such a horrible job my mom forbade him to ever get anywhere near us with a pair of clippers.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!  Damn! This brings back so many memories. My upbringing was military as well, only my dad did the haircutting. Eventually, as I got older, I was allowed to let my hair grow. Anytime I got into trouble, which was often, my punishment would include "and you're need to cut your hair" as if by magic, cutting my hair would make me change my way of thinking.

Now, I get a haircut every three to four months whether I need it or not.

We have one segment of our family (my BIL's genes) that all the males suddenly lose their hair in their early twenties.  It is a family of bald giant men, all at least 6'4".   It's funny how they first try to cover up the loss by combing their hair forward and around over their foreheads and finally just give up and shave off anything remaining.  My sons tease their cousins and have always been thankful for their Dad's thick bushy-hair genes, but they're not too fond of their eyebrows.
