It really is - and the good ones make it look so easy! They're truly the unsung heroes of every show! Thanks for the visit!

When I am 93
Ditto. The title is from a tribute parody we wrote for "Blanche Rothstein Night" at the theater, sung to "You charmed the Husk Right Off of the Corn, Mame".

Some lady
Indeed she is! And she's a voracious reader! She says her memory is failing, but when I dropped in on her this morning and we talked of old times, she was coming up with names that I'd forgotten, Unbelievable woman!

the Duke
Actuslly, she's a friendly and funny person! But when authority is at stake, watch out! I once had the bad judgment to take a job as her co-director in Neil Simon's Broadway Bound. At the end of a a rehearsal scene
I made the mistake of suggesting that the female lead had the habit of making a nervous little half-laugh at the
end of certain lines. Her reaction? "There's ONE director in this show, and it's not you!" A minute or two later she said to the actress, "Lois, lose the laugh." Go figure. From then on, the extent of m contribution to the show was the cover design for the program.

the old bird
Actually, I went over to visit Blanche this morning (I had to apologize to her - she's only 92), and she says for you to buzz off. She likes younger men. Interesting - as soon as we began talking, the subject was her dialysis, and heart murmur, and my diabetes and pancreatic cancer last year. As soon as we went on to discussing her oxygen tank and my experience with chemo, we stopped and laughed about how, after a certain age, old people's conversation rots into talk about medicine, illness, etc. With no trouble, we shifted gears to gossip.A good visit!
