Unfortunately the relationship did not pan out as they had hoped/expected. Such is the case of many it seems. I guess some things are universal.

thinking over your words, I think of the moments that happen and two people do not know how to really speak what's on their hearts, so they assume, incorrectly, and are silent ... sad and a waste of what could have been

as Kabu has already alluded to, moments out of control...they come and go so quickly for us all...for both "he" and "she", a different reaction at the proper moment would have ended the spiral...
